Join our reputable regional CPA firm as we seek a Tax Senior Manager specializing in State and Local Taxation (SALT) to enhance our growing team. As a SALT Tax Senior Manager you will work with a diverse client base of SEC and closely held high net-worth clients across various industries, all while advancing your career at an accelerated pace.
Responsibilities:
- Perform technical tax review and approval of sales tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for advising clients.
- Manage all tasks related to client service, ensuring assignments are completed within budgeted time.
- Delegate and oversee tax research projects to achieve accurate and efficient outcomes.
- Actively participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts to support the Partner/Director group with existing client needs and questions.
- Serve as a resource for the tax and audit groups on specific tax issues and questions.
- Manage client service responsibilities for clients directly handled by the Tax Senior Manager or delegated from the Partner.
- Communicate important tax developments affecting clients to appropriate firm personnel.
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent the client before taxing authorities.
- Adhere to accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
- Maintain knowledge of general economic and political trends that could affect the business climate.
- Research and evaluate sales tax preparation and tax research software for recommendation to partners.
- Contribute to firm practice development efforts through engagement with referral sources, community, and industry activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Develop, coach, and train Supervising Seniors, Seniors, and Staff accountants.
- Familiarize with the qualifications of all Tax staff members for effective training and development.
- Participate in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five to seven years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.
- At least two years' experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
- Minimum one year of supervisory experience directing tax preparers' work.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s degree in taxation preferred.
- Completion of at least forty hours of continuing education annually to maintain and develop technical and business skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current tax laws and related key sales tax issues.
- Proficiency in computer tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning software programs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.
