Tax Controversy Manager is directly responsible for overseeing the IRS and State audits in various tax jurisdiction.
The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment with experience in process improvement, collaboration with various stakeholders (within and outside of tax), monitoring activities and managing the progression of projects, and gathering requirements. Successful candidates will have an extensive background in U.S. Tax Compliance and controversy.
This role will operate with independence and be expected to demonstrate an ability to collaborate, and problem solve.
Job Requirements:
- Drive process improvements: dive deep into current processes to uncover all critical dependencies and requirements to develop solutions that streamline and automate work streams.
- Lead discussions and projects with consultants and Tax Attorneys to support Federal/State Tax audits and other strategical tax decisions.
- Provide expert tax advice on U.S. M&A projects.
- Extract data through use of SQL. Perform detailed analysis of large data sets including investigating, troubleshooting, and identifying ways to translate the information to leadership, tax authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Support responding to internal and external information requests, preparing financial audit documentation, and coordinating responses to audit requests from tax authorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with other technology teams within tax, accounting, finance and across Ericsson; curate existing solutions and champion implementation to existing audit practices while also identifying gaps and leading efforts to close the gaps on technology needs and solutions.
- Create Dashboards and present documents, summaries, and other status updates to stakeholders and leadership on various tax projects, reporting metrics, and gain consensus and approvals.
- Participate in tax technical discussions to gather requirements, prepare documentation, and outline areas of responsibilities and a roadmap to project completion.
- Identify, collaborate, and manage relationships across the tax team, accounting, tech teams, business teams, external auditors, and third-party provider.
The skills you bring:
- 6-8 years relevant experience as a tax professional
- Experience with US Tax Compliance a must.
- Experience in Federal & State Tax Controversy a must
- Extensive Knowledge of U.S. Federal & State Tax legislation
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
- Experience supporting multi-entity global businesses.
- Telecommunications background advantageous.
- Candidates with Professional certifications are encouraged. CPA certification preferred.
- Expert level understanding of Corptax software preferred.
- Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions
- Comprehensive understanding of Transfer Pricing, preferred.
- Background & experience with related party international transactions desired
- Demonstrated ability to Collaborate across a complex matrixed organization required.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex topics to all levels in an organization.
- Flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high levels of tact, integrity, and confidentiality
- High level of analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Understanding of IFRS and GAAP a plus.
