We’re in search of a Tax Manager to join our team in our Baltimore, MD office. This is role oversees and is accountable for all phases of client tax engagements and has responsibility for firm growth. This position requires a CPA license and acts in a leadership role, setting an ethical and technical example for direct reports and colleagues.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee entire tax engagements from start to finish, including budget, staff, planning, production, first-level or final review, total work quality and profitability
- Hold primary client responsibility, and, in some cases, oversee specific areas of client service
- Complete preparation of more complex tax returns, reviewing easy to medium returns and researching technical issues
- Aid business development with clients and non-clients to expand our practice, and beginning to develop prospects
- Concentrate on practice development with both prospective and existing clients
- Develop and lead teams while contributing to the strategic planning and direction of the Tax department
- Learns and upholds the Firm’s expectations for work quality and professional development as well as the Firm’s cultural and core values
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree and CPA certification required with a minimum of 8 years of experience
- Experience conceptualizing, developing, and monitoring the work flow for tax preparation
- Solid experience preparing complex returns for S-Corporations, C-Corporations, LLC’s, Partnerships, trusts, high wealth individuals, and nonprofits
- Proven experience growing a niche or practice area
- Fluent in speaking, reading and writing the English language
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Masters Degree in Taxation and/or additional professional designations or certifications showing specialization in areas of taxation preferred
