SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Systems Safety Analyst to review and develop systems safety programs and activities in accordance with contractual requirements.
Position responsibilitieswill include, but are not limited to the following:
·Develop system safety plan outlining all safety assessment processes, activities, responsibilities and deliverables consistent with governing guidelines.
·Apply engineering principles and standards to support, develop, or review system/subsystem hazard analysis, software system safety analysis, and functional hazard analysis.
·Analyze, recommend, and drive safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures in order to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
·Support development of systematic and comprehensive risk management of in-service safety analysis processes, training, procedures and tools.
·Analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of customer system safety documents to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents.
·Perform system safety risk assessments, identify problem areas, and assists in evaluating design modifications and engineering change proposals (ECPs).
·Flow down reliability and safety derived requirements to system design to appropriately mitigate risks.
·Develop, review, and update safety program documentation and artifacts as required to support the customer.
·Identify hazards associated with functions and systems and develop mitigation strategies in support of the certification of systems.
·Provide input and feedback to safety plans, processes, procedures, schedules, and policy documents.
·Hold broad responsibility for the analysis of all safety aspects of systems design.
·Perform, monitor, and support various systems safety demonstration and qualification testing and creates/updates test plans and procedures to ensure adequacy for systems safety considerations.
·Understand safety regulatory requirements applicable to system design and development program and tailor the safety assessment process to ensure these requirements are met.
·Review product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establish safety requirements for assigned systems.
·Participate in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.
·Participate in various system safety meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
·Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective solution.
·May be responsible for evaluating performance of junior staff and/or subordinates.
·May assist in the selection, training, and development of staff.
·May lead and direct limited tasks assigned to junior personnel.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
·High school diploma or GED equivalent.
·Technical Training in US Navy Navigation equipment and systems.
·Eight (8) + years of Engineering/Systems Safety experience with Department of Defense (DoD and/or shipboard systems experience preferred) in developing and implementing major safety programs inclusive of systems, software, electrical and/or mechanical engineering.
·Recognized expert who has demonstrated industry and public service leadership in US Navy Navigation equipment and systems.
·Ability to perform the following:
