GENERAL PURPOSE:
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Supports the organizations mission, objectives, and strategies
+ Continually analyzes the environment seeking ways to improve it. Identifies existing and potential problems, opportunities for improvement, and ways to enhance the level of service provided.
+ Formulates strategies in response to the conditions uncovered. Evaluates strengths and benefits, as well as weaknesses, issues, costs and impacts of alternative strategies.
+ Recommends the alternative that best addresses the issue or resolves the problem. For sizable proposals, provides management with an implementation plan that documents the result of the evaluation and a time line associated with the proposed initiatives.
+ Installs and maintains operating systems, systems software and layered products specific to Linux computer platforms. Provides assistance and support to other systems administrators of these platforms where applicable. Troubleshoots problems and provide consultation to clients about configuration and use of these platforms.
+ Supports, implements and monitors disk storage solutions and SAN environments.
+ Communicates to staff planned and implemented changes and status of problem resolution. Responds to end-user and IS requests for services. Coordinates activities with staff, including applications, Customer Services, the Help Desk, and the Data Center.
+ Functions as the project leader for infrastructure implementations by defining the project plan, identifying the required resources, coordinating the tasks of the project team, and tracking the project schedule.
+ Provides technical consulting services within and outside the department. Mentors staff. Serves on University and/or Medical Center specific teams as an active participant.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
**Project Management**
+ Contributes to the development of project plans with activities, dependencies, dates and timeframes, resource requirements, milestones and deliverables. (15%)
+ Monitors progress of project activities and insures all critical implementation criteria are met. Works within project scope and timeline escalating risks to scope, schedule, and budget as appropriate. (15%)
**Server Maintenance**
+ Provides routine health checks either personally or by working with the vendor. (10%)
+ Reviews and implements recommendations of the vendor. (10%)
+ Configures monitoring tools for early warning and to provide meaningful alerts to team. Monitors system and provides proactive recommendations for improvement or problem avoidance. (10%)
**System Administration**
+ Maintains System Summaries and Technical Recovery Plans. Provides full support for implementation of new system, including the development of Deployment Guides, Operations Manuals, SOPs for failover, recovery, etc. (5%
+ Researches and recommends process improvement and strategic solutions. Implements with guidance from senior team members. Identifies existing and potential problems, opportunities for improvement, and ways to enhance the level of service provided. Formulates strategies in response to the conditions uncovered. (10%)
+ Evaluates strengths and benefits, as well as weaknesses, issues, costs and impacts of alternative strategies. Recommends the alternative that best addresses the issue or resolves the problem. (5%)
+ Appropriately triages and escalates to partner IT groups as necessary. Resolve P1 thru P4 tickets to Enterprise Systems Group or escalate to appropriate Enterprise Systems team member based on established SLAs. (10%)
**Administrative Responsibilities**
+ Participates in change control, system documentation, development and implementation of standard operating procedures, and in-service and trainings as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Science or Engineering required;
+ Master’s degree preferred.
+ 3-4 years of related experience required;
+ 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred;
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience required preferred.
+ Vendor management experience preferred;
+ Customer Service, Systems Development, or Information Technology related experience preferred;
+ Project management experience preferred.
+ Subject matter expert in the area of SAN and Storage Infrastructure preferred
+ Subject matter expert in the area of Linux and/or AIX operating systems preferred.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills, effective questioning, listening, and analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills preferred

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $ 48,000 - $ 95,000 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
