The System Analyst PACS, will be responsible for providing a blend of analytical and technical understanding and expertise necessary to support, develop, and implement functions that affect the overall performance and quality of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) and Cardiology Picture Archive and Communication (CPACS) The System Analyst PACS, assumes the day-to-day accountability for the operation, support, and integrity of the RIS, PACS, CPACS and other systems as they relate to medical imaging for Mercyhealth, including image workflow, archiving, and other related activities. The PACS System Analyst will be cross trained in moderate to complex RIS, CPACS and PACS support. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Requires process and application expertise and strong leadership skills to work with key personnel, end users, clinicians and project team members to maintain high quality standards for the Radiology and Cardiology Information Systems, as well as maintaining area- specific applications such as those used within Mammography, Echos, Ultrasound, and Cardiology.
- The System Analyst PACS ensures proper operation of DICOM digital image data transfer into the PACS and CPACS from all radiology and cardiology modalities.
- Maintains the PACS user accounts database and utilizes the PACS administration software to maintain and update all application tables.
- The System Analyst PACS is also responsible for maintaining and supporting the technical integration, as well as associated workflow processes related to the EMR applications. Integrates RIS, PACS and CPACS into the clinical and business operations of the company.
- Develop and implement testing programs to ensure reliability of computerized procedures in compliance with federal regulations; prepare and maintain applicable records and archives of database changes and validation; evaluate and test all changes to programs and procedures.
- Assists with the development of operating standards, policies, and procedures, including downtime events. Reviews feedback from Radiology Staff, Radiologists, Referring Physicians and other related staff to recommends procedural and educational changes as appropriate.
- Responsible for IS Related Radiology/Cardiology Projects. Participation typically involves workflow analysis, design, general systems analysis, and development of a functional specification, creation of a test plan, testing, and documentation and implementation for new or existing Radiology/Cardiology applications. Responsible for appropriately communicating project status, and resolving and/or escalating issues where appropriate.
- Provides assistance and direction in the ongoing and future plans or development of the RlS, PACS and CPACS digital imaging initiatives; provides input into selection of hardware and software. Performs software and hardware validation for all new products, software features and upgrades. Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems and functionality.
Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited AMA radiological training program or equivalent with work experience in a radiology department also required
Knowledge of workstations and server administration, HL7 interfaces, DICOM interfaces. Knowledge of overall network infrastructure and related SQL databases. PACS (Picture Archive Communications System) experience required. Working knowledge of radiology department workflow, processes, protocols, systems techniques, methods and equipment.
Certification and Licensure
ARRT certified or 10 years relevant Radiology or Cardiology experience.
Skills and Abilities
Experience with and demonstrates competence in Microsoft Office Applications.
Ability to work independently and be result oriented.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks and project components.
