Must evaluate if the underwriting terms and conditions accepted for all lines of business were in accordance with established guidelines
Ensure the terms and conditions accepted by the subscribers are in compliance with internal company's guidelines
Ensure contracts are legally binding (for all lines of business and for all countries with the Latin America and Caribbean Division) and are within the company's risk appetite to ensure profitability
Analyze statistical data and verify and audit a wide range of documentation (for both Facultative and Treaty contracts, across all lines of business) to ensure that the information captured in the company's local systems are in accordance with negotiated terms
Responsible for auditing all premium calculations in TIRS (Internal System) to detect possible accounting errors as follows: Installment due dates; Value of Total Premiums; Discrepancies in amounts received; Total Income values; Total deductions registered in the system according to final terms accepted
Verify underwriter submissions and internal controls of complex reinsurance business and their results
Update underwriting information and generates reports that allow management to monitor the status of the negotiation process and forecast budget results/adjustments necessary
Work very closely with the SVP and Chief Underwriting Officer and other departments to provide Monthly and Quarterly statistical reports quantifying numbers of issues, process weaknesses and inefficiencies from underwriting area
Conduct reinsurance risk assessments and discuss potential compliance issues with management, Underwriters and QC team members
Provide leadership and direction to USU staff on special projects and/or processes
Set clear goals and monitor staff's process toward those goals
Provide ongoing feedback to staff
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Actuary Science or US equivalent and one (1) year of experience in the job or as Reinsurance Underwriting Supervisor, Quality Control Supervisor, or closely related occupation within the reinsurance industry in Latin America
Alternatively, employer will accept at least three (3) years of experience in the above stated occupation(s) within the industry/region
Must have experience verifying a wide range of Facultative/Treaty documentation, and working knowledge of reinsurance underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, executing operational audits of various lines of business using audit methodology, and verifying underwriter submissions and internal controls of complex reinsurance business and their results
Must have experience applying reinsurance risk assessment skills, quality control concepts and market knowledge within the industry to interpret and apply regulations pertaining to corporate compliance requirements, as well as utilizing the following reporting systems/tools and specialized software: AIR, RMS, GRM, Excess of Loss Pricing tools, Integrated Property Pricing system.
