The Supervisor of Technical Learning is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the training programs. They are responsible for the Workforce Training team and to ensure program sustainability and success. This individual must possess knowledge in janitorial training best practices, curriculum development, and instructional methods for a diverse population. The Supervisor of Technical Training acts as a role model for the Workforce Trainers, supervisors, and other Relay employees. They work closely with the Director of Technical Training and Development to create and implement skills training, career growth plans and methods to support everyone within the training program and Disability inclusion team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Training Program:
- Works with Director of Technical Training and Development for the continued growth and education of Workforce Trainers, trainees, janitors, leads, supervisors, and other relevant Relay employees.
- Works with the Director of Technical Training and Development to create and continually refine the training structure, syllabus, and the methodology of Relay's Training programs.
- Oversees the cleanliness and organization of training sites across Relay's portfolio.
- Trained and certified in agreed upon third-party training programs, disability and emotional support programs, and others to be implemented. The Supervisor of Technical Training plays a key role in implementing these programs across Relay's Workforce.
- Regularly visits training sites, evaluates onsite training materials, and ensures program structure. Spends equal amount of time at each training site to ensure support for the Workforce Trainers.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the training team and program.
Management/Team Support and Development:
- Holds themselves and those they supervisor accountable for job performance, outcomes, and Relay acceptable behaviors.
- Supervises Workforce Trainers, including overseeing work assignments and daily responsibilities.
- Works to resolve conflicts within the janitorial training program, involving the Director of Technical Training and Development and Employee Relations team as needed.
- Trains and develops new Workforce Trainers.
- Schedules and leads regular training meetings, Workforce Trainer's continued development and education, and other meetings as required.
Communication:
- Meets with Employee Support Specialist frequently to share information on trainee outcomes, incoming trainees, and to work together on best supports for the employee's success.
- Oversees payroll for Workforce trainers and trainees.
- Manages Workforce trainer schedules and time off.
Other Responsibilities:
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings as assigned by the Director of Technical Training and Development.
- Represent Relay at all community events.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 5 years combined education, janitorial operations, and/or management experience
- Experience in a clinical or health cleaning industry is preferred
- Experience working or volunteering with persons with disabilities and/or diverse populations is preferred
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Some knowledge of contracts preferred
- Physical ability to perform occasional janitorial tasks; walk, bend, lift and carry items up to 50 lbs
- Strong skills in Microsoft 365 office
- Pass a criminal background check to obtain Federal security clearances
