BHRS uses evidence-based treatment approaches in our system of care services, while seeking continuing improvement and development in the areas of cultural competence, integrated services for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use problems, and supportive housing. Our achievements reflect the work of dedicated staff as well as the valuable input of mental health system partners--juvenile justice and human services agencies, county health clinics, private providers and contract agencies and private providers, schools and school districts, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Commission members, families, and consumers.
The position offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package which includes County funded malpractice insurance, retirement plans and health benefits for retirees, reimbursement of professional dues and expenses (up to $3,000/year), an additional 5% increase in salary for each qualifying Board certification up to two (2) Boards, administrative leave time at 5 hours per pay period up to 260 hours (this is prorated for part time employees) that can be cashed out up to 50%, and a wellness program.

San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) seeks a Board eligible or Board-certified full-time Supervising Child Psychiatrist. Under the general direction of the Medical Director, the Supervising Child Psychiatrist will provide clinical direction for psychiatric clinical programs, participate in the overall management of division and inter-division issues, and supervise a talented, dedicated cadre of collaborative and experienced medical, nursing, professional and experienced child psychiatric professionals, currently including a team of 8 Child Psychiatrists. The Supervising Child Psychiatrist will also provide direct psychiatric care services for youth and families in County Clinics and programs.
Primarily centered in San Mateo, the Supervising Child Psychiatrist will travel throughout the County to serve as part of clinical teams.
