JOB SUMMARY
Manages, maintains and performs all maintenance to Salt Lake County golf course grounds and facilities. Manage the golf course in accordance to the Salt Lake County golf section standards and Salt Lake County policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four (4) years of work experience in a closely related field, of which two (2) years must have been working on a golf course; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America at the time of hire. Must obtain a State of Utah Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicators License within six (6) months of hire. Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background investigation. A valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah may be required to operate a vehicle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

+ Manages the golf course and operations on a daily basis and performs quarterly meetings to keep all employees up-to-date on changes to the golf section standards and/or Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation policies and procedures.
+ Participates in creating and evolving the golf section standards within Salt Lake County.
+ Performs and supervises ground maintenance techniques and watering functions and applications.
+ Performs and supervises water hazard and trap maintenance and performs the procedures for changing cup locations on the greens in accordance with United States Golf Association (USGA).
+ Works directly with the Head Professional to solve customer and staff complaints.
+ Performs and supervises the installation, maintenance, and repair of pump stations. Performs programming for irrigation systems and weather stations and coordinates pump station equipment with the sprinkling system. Works with the various types of pumps used in irrigation configurations, control panels, filters, and high voltage (480 volt) applications to repair, maintain or replace them.
+ Monitors conditions of golf course grounds and facilities and schedules maintenance and repair. Coordinates and schedules repair activities with appropriate personnel to minimize the effect on course play and operations. Routinely monitor existing golf course conditions. Evaluate and test the playability of the golf course.
+ Performs and supervises maintenance and repairs on the machinery and equipment used to maintain the course.
+ Implements and monitors an inventory control system.
+ Prepares, manages, monitors, and updates an annual golf course line-item budget with associated revenue and expenditure plans. Reviews pertinent monthly, quarterly and other applicable reports.
+ Authorizes, oversees, and monitors purchases in accordance with the maintenance facility spending plan and ensures that all expenditures are within the established annual budget.
+ Monitors and enforces the work related safety practices of assigned staff and enforces applicable safety regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires extensive physical labor; lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds with some assistance): kneeling, bending, sitting and standing. The work involves exposure to extreme weather conditions; dirt, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, smoke, and/or loud noises.
