Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join the Development Operations department located at our Fremont facility. As an Intern, you will carry out a mammalian (CHO) cell culture experiment from thaw to initial purification, perform daily activities needed to maintain your experiment and collect data, and analyze and communicate your results.

Duties & Responsibilities
+ Report to diverse team of scientists and engineers.
+ Gain real world industrial experience in process development areas in cell culture (including but not limited to maintenance of mammalian cell cultures from thaw to harvest, operation of bioreactors using fed-batch method, data analysis, etc.)
+ Gain exposure to core techniques for successful independent research projects (including but not limited to literature research, novel high throughput instruments and presentation skills).
+ Applies academic and other experiential knowledge and skills to complete assigned work with supervision.
+ Understands and applies basic scientific, math or other business principles with guidance.
+ Effectively interprets, assesses, and communicates data in the area assigned.
+ Complies with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, performing all work in a safe manner.
+ Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
Requirements
+ Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
+ Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
+ Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
+ Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
+ Experience working in a laboratory environment
+ Experience in aseptic techniques strongly preferred
+ Experience working with mammalian cell culture a plus
+ Strong chemistry, engineering and/or biology skills
+ Good written and oral communication skills
+ Ability to work in a team environment
Eligibility Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
Pay Transparency:
Compensation: This position offers an hourly rate typically between $20/hr and $33/hr commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled.
