Job Story
The Marketing Assistant for Campus Recreation at Wichita State University is responsible for supporting the creation, editing, and distribution of marketing materials that promote the department’s programs, events, and initiatives. This role involves working closely with the marketing team of Campus Rec to enhance the department’s online and offline presence and engage with WSU students as well as the WSU community.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Content Creation: Assist in creating and editing marketing materials, including social media posts, newsletters, flyers, and website content.
• Collaboration: Work with the marketing team to develop content ideas and themes that align with the university's goals and initiatives.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure all marketing materials align with Wichita State University's brand guidelines and messaging.
• Event Support: Assist in promoting department events, which may include helping with event logistics and capturing event highlights.
• In-Person Marketing: Represent the university at tabling events, engaging with students and visitors to promote programs, events, and initiatives.
• Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks to support the marketing team, such as scheduling social media posts, maintaining marketing databases, and organizing promotional materials.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing previous work in marketing or content creation is preferred.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed

Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in marketing, social media management, or content creation is a plus.
Skills: Proficiency in using marketing tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, social media platforms).
Creativity: Strong creative vision and the ability to translate ideas into compelling marketing content.
Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with a variety of people and personalities.
Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
