Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Steel Sales Manager to lead sales efforts in the fabrication and erection of large building projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing new business, nurturing client relationships, and executing a targeted sales strategy within the assigned geographical region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to generate new business and maintain existing accounts in the Western Region (Upper Midwest to West Coast).
- Manage sales efforts for fabrication and erection of large building projects, including soliciting bids for erection, joists, deck, and miscellaneous metals.
- Build and sustain relationships with owners, general contractors, and erectors to ensure preference at bid time.
- Interface with prospects’ Estimating Departments to coordinate proposals, bid responses, and post-bid follow-ups.
- Screen inquiries, determine bid/no bid decisions, and respond promptly to customer needs.
- Provide preconstruction support and ensure a smooth project turnover to Project Management.
- Regularly follow up with clients to ensure job satisfaction, visiting job sites and providing updates.
- Stay current with market trends and customer demands to stay ahead of building opportunities.
- Travel approximately 2-3 weeks per month, including 2-3 nights per trip, to support sales efforts and meet with clients.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years’ sales experience in the structural steel industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
- Proven track record working with owners, general contractors, and erectors.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a focus on prompt customer response.
- Strong independent work ethic with a proven sales performance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
