About the Job
Our client is looking for an experienced Project Manager for our Structural Steel division.
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the structural steel scope of work from contract award to closeout. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Attending weekly production meetings to review project progress and address difficulties.
- Anticipating/understanding the complete scope of work and comparing project documentation to the estimate to verify that the scope of work and budget are met.
- Project scheduling involves synchronizing detailing, fabrication, and delivery timelines.
- Attending on-site or virtual project meetings, as needed.
- Manage all subcontractors, including invoice approval and processing.
- Managing the submittal process, which includes advance bills of materials, RFIs, shop drawings, samples, and technical data.
- Engage the project detailer while keeping priorities and delivery objectives in mind, and verify that the detailer's shop drawings fulfill project specifications, project estimates, and corporate criteria.
- Coordinating with the construction manager and other trades.
- Obtaining field measurements (where necessary) and verifying their correctness before production begins.
- Coordinate with the subcontracted erector for the installation of finished/fabricated goods and ensure the erector's on-site activity meets expectations.
- Accurately recording and submitting additional costs arising from project modifications; immediately filing a change order request to the construction manager and following its status.
- After the project is completed, the relevant close-out documentation are issued to the construction manager.
- Keeping real expenses within budget over the duration of the project.
Prerequisites:
- Experienced (5+ years) in the structural steel sector (a bachelor's degree in construction management is recommended).
- Ability to expand and increase product knowledge.
- Can read architectural and structural construction drawings.
- Excellent computer abilities; adept in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
- Possess and apply a comprehensive understanding of ideas, techniques, and processes to the execution of complex tasks.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- TeklaEPM (Fabsuite) expertise is preferred.
- Can operate in a fast-paced atmosphere and multitask.
