Job Details
This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems, with a focus on waterproofing recommendations and structural repairs (wood, concrete, steel, etc.) for existing buildings with the ability to design shoring plans. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of engineering procedures, experience with various materials, and the ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans.
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
- Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
- Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
- Determines cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations.
- Prepares shoring plans for structural repairs.
- Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)
- Able to lead a small to large team to deliver on commitments.
- Prepare & maintain budgets, proposals, and schedules for projects.
- Review billings and prepare change orders.
- Workload forecasting and resource allocation to support junior staff.
- Training and mentoring of staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years experience in structural engineering.
- Florida PE license required.
- Waterproofing experience needed.
- Preferred certifications: Infrared Thermographer, Document Technologist.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and design software.
- Expertise in structural analysis software.
- Understanding of engineering methods and materials.
- Experience collaborating with teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
