Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as a Staff Scientist, Manufacturing Sciences and become part of a team dedicated to excellence and innovation. The Staff Scientist supports the Media Network in the Biologicals and Chemicals Division and BioSciences Division. In this position, you will demonstrate scientific leadership by specializing in cell culture media, reagents, and buffers. Additionally, you will contribute to technology transfer and collaborate with manufacturing sites and networks. Your skills will be essential in identifying, investigating, and developing data-driven solutions to customer issues, employing statistical analysis and experimental design. This role requires meeting service level agreements and excelling in a dynamic work setting.
What will you do?- Perform primary feasibility assessments on media formulations
- Conduct process development, scale-up, and transfer technologies to cross-functional teams for production.
- Implement process improvements and necessary changes to meet metrics and support customer experience and business expectations.
- Provide leadership for functional and cross-functional product activities.
- Make detailed observations and conduct statistical analysis of data in support of product and process quality, maintaining accurate notebooks/files.
- Advise management teams on factors affecting quality, process, accuracy, and data usefulness, interpreting experimental results.
- Design and troubleshoot manufacturing and testing experiments, solving intermediate problems in experimental designs.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Engage in high-performance work teams to sustain a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in metrics, custom cell culture requests, investigations, efficiency, and quality optimization.
- Implement strategies and solutions for technical/operational project activities to fulfill internal and external requirements and expectations.
- Evaluate, prioritize, and manage multiple and changing priorities efficiently.
- Align with all safety, quality, and training procedures and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology/Biomedical Engineering, or related field) with 8-10 years of experience, or a master's degree with meaningful experience.
- Theoretical and practical experience in cell culture media formulation and manufacturing is highly desired.
- Knowledge of aqueous chemistry of biochemical, organic compounds, and metal salts is highly desirable.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with electronic batch record systems is highly desirable.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent time management, organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Ability to train new associates using approved Standard Manufacturing Practices (SMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $93,800.00-$140,675.00.
