General Statement
The North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA) is a membership organization for federally qualified, non-profit patient-governed health care organizations that provide care to patients regardless of insurance status or geographic isolation. NCCHCA’s mission is to promote and support patient-governed health care organizations and the populations they serve.
The Staff Accountant at the NCCHCA works under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations and will support the financial and operational areas within the organization. This position is an internal resource that serves NCCHCA and our related business ventures (Carolina Medical Home Network and the North Carolina School Health Alliance).
Duties Responsibilities:
- Reviews, prepares, and processes accounts payable checks on a weekly basis, or as needed. To include verifying invoices and coding accounts payable entries properly.
- Reconciles payments and monitors accounts to ensure all payments are current.
- Resolves payable and receivable discrepancies.
- Maintain the account payable files for all supporting work, programs and vendors. Prepare the necessary 1099’s at year end.
- Reviews employee travel expense for compliance to include charges applied to the corporate credit card, monthly.
- Assist the DFO with the monthly and year-end closings process, to include preparation of the annual audit.
- Prints and distributes financial statements to staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree in accounting or finance preferred; or associate degree in accounting with at least ten years of experience.
- Two - four years’ experience preferred.
- Competence in Microsoft Office (particularly MS Excel).
- Understanding of accounting system software, preferably SAGE/Abila, fund accounting software.
- Attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to multi-task and manage work as needed.
