POSITION SUMMARY:
The Revenue, Staff Accountant supports the daily and monthly accounting operations of Azamara. This individual ensures the timely and accurate entry of accounting transactions and supports the efforts of the Revenue Accounting Department to ensure that the company’s books and records fairly reflect its financial position in accordance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
This individual has a strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles, is familiar with intercompany and multi-currency accounting principles and can communicate and interact effectively with peers and managers from different departments and divisions. This person must be detail-oriented, organized, and accurate in their work.

- Supports the daily accounting operations and monthly closing process, including the preparation of monthly accruals of revenue expenses.
- Analyzes various areas of revenue accounting, including but not limited to, tour component standards and performs appropriate write-offs, gross profit margin for pre/post tours for month end review, monitor payments, tax returns and reconciliations for departure tax, customs fees, and trip insurance.
- Records all voyage revenues and expenses related to Gross Ticket Revenue, Gross Other Revenue, Travel Agent Commissions, Transportation and Lodging, Tour Expenses and Other expenses.
- Performs reconciliations on assigned accounts and schedules to ensure the accuracy of data maintained in the general ledger; identifies reconciliation issues and elevates solutions or concerns to the Senior Accountant and Senior Manager.
- Prepares and assists in the compilation of Balance Sheet results in preparation for monthly and quarterly meetings with management.
- Applies accounting concepts and policies in the preparation and review of financial transactions across accounts.
- Assists in the review of entity-wide inter-company arrangements and transactions.
- Assists management in the analysis and review of Actual vs. Forecast explanations submitted by the operating groups.
- Ensures that financial information complies with relevant professional, industry, and regulatory standards, including ASC-606 policies for revenue recognition.
- Supports the development, testing and implementation of software upgrades and new IT products.
- Performs ad hoc projects and analysis as assigned.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR: (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; advanced degrees will be considered a plus.
- Cruise industry knowledge is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential, or eligibility to take the CPA exam.
- Two or more years of experience in accounting including journal entries, general ledger reconciliation and analysis.
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with managers and peers to establish trust and credibility, and to gain cooperation from others.
- Experience with Seaware (or similar) Reservations systems is a plus.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work under significant deadline pressures.
- Ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously.
