Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant performs professional level accounting work in the generation, analysis, and maintenance of fiscal records related to AEG Corporate, and other operating entities are deemed appropriate by management. The position requires knowledge of accounting principles and accounting functions, in addition to experience in consolidation process, in order to work independently to complete tasks. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing monthly tasks, including but not limited to, the generation of accounts receivable, and the recording of fixed assets, accruals, sponsorships, allocations, along with the preparation of various reports for management use. This individual will be required to apply accounting knowledge to ensure proper coding and recording. This individual may be asked to perform ad-hoc analyses and create spreadsheets and reports for management as necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Collect and scan new invoice submissions for the AEG Corporate vendors into ImageNow for Accounts Payable. Process invoices in the ImageNow system.
- Monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts including cash, receivables, intercompanies, payables, deferrals, etc.
- Review Amex P-card Statement reports monthly and ensure timely payment of Amex P-cards. Reach out to card holders to ensure timely submission of their statement reports in Concur
- Month-end closing procedures include preparation of Accounts Payable accrual, clearing suspense account, prepare journal entries as needed
- Monitor fixed asset activity and generate month-end depreciation entries
- Prepare various reports and analyses for management as needed
- Prepare monthly financial reports including financial statements and operating reports
- Complete and provide various schedules and reports requested by third parties for audit, income tax, and other purposes
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) Major in the field of accounting
- 2-4 years Related work experience
- General accounting experience working with complex computer systems/financial applications, preferably JD Edwards
- Hands-on experience working with multiple companies/legal entities and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Accounting principles
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; ability to learn required business systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Professionally handles highly sensitive and confidential information
- Must posess ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and execute multiple projects and assignments
- Proven ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system/financial application
- Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision
Payscale: $65,000 - $78,000
