Staff Accountant II - Area Stock Yards (Hybrid: Onsite and Remote Work) - US Foods

The Staff Accountant II is responsible for the support of multiple Stock Yard markets in a respective area. Provide support to the area and region finance leadership in the completion of the period end close through journal entry, balance sheet reconciliations and analysis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and consideration of proper SOX controls. As well provide support to the finance and operation team leaders in the area in the preparation of the mid-month forecast.
This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of three onsite days per week and the rest remote.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepares month-end journal entries and assigned balance sheet reconciliations
+ Completes general ledger and subledger account analysis
+ Prepares and assist with review of financial statements as part of close process
+ Provide reports as required for customers and vendor analysis
+ Compile and provide audit support as requested by internal and external auditors.
+ Develop end-to-end process and business knowledge of assigned area
+ Skilled at demonstrating the values and behaviors of the Company Cultural Beliefs
+ Assist with research of inventory costing issues and analysis to ensure proper cost accounting
+ Provides annual budget and monthly forecast support and analysis for accurate projection of results
+ Responds timely to requests for information/reports from auditors, regional or corporate associates
+ Completes special projects and analysis as requested by SY and Corporate finance leadership
Education/Training:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
• Related Experience:
+ Must possess a minimum of two years in general accounting; cost accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continues improvement mindset.
+ Attention to detail and organizational skills; multi-task oriented; and ability to meet deadlines.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
+ Experience with PeopleSoft accounting preferred.
+ Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
+ Effective oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work with and demonstrate discretion with confidential information.
