Position Summary:
As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting our accounting department by performing a variety of accounting duties. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. You will work closely with senior accountants and management to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely account reconciliations, and adherence to accounting policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger by recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy.
- Monthly & Quarterly Close: Support the monthly and quarterly close processes by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with variance analysis.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, intercompany transactions, and other accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Help manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and collections as needed.
- Audit Support: Assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting information.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP or other relevant standards).
- Tax Preparation Assistance: Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
- Special Projects: Participate in ad hoc projects as needed by the accounting or finance department.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Excel).
- Ability to analyze and reconcile financial data.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Certifications (preferred but not required): CPA or in-progress certification is a plus.
