Staff Accountant at Atrium

Our client, a distribution company in Canton MA, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$70,000 – $80,000

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will play a pivotal role in various accounting functions and contribute to the development and enhancement of our accounting practices. They’re seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and customer service-focused Staff Accountant individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

• Support the Accounting Manager in month-end activities, including journal entry preparation, GL account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
• Assist in resolving Purchase Order (PO) and invoice discrepancies
• Aid in the daily operations of the Accounts Payable team, including vouchering, monitoring billing portals, and addressing AP inbox inquiries
• Collaborate with branch managers and suppliers to troubleshoot issues effectively
• Maintain State Sales Tax reconciliation and ensure monthly filings are completed accurately
• Serve as backup for accounts receivable and participate in cross-training within various accounting functions
• Provide assistance to external auditors by gathering necessary information and documents for annual audits
• Offer general support to the Accounting Department and undertake additional tasks as required

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

• 2+ years of experience in an Accounting Department
• Strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs, Pivot tables), Outlook, and Word
• Excellent analytical skills
• Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 ideal

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required
