Job Description Summary
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for journal entry processing, account analysis, statement preparation, review of budget variances and assisting with audit follow up for BILH entities.
Based in Charlestown, MA, this position has a hybrid work schedule.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
1. Prepares entities’ financial statements on a monthly basis. These financial statements are as follows: Balance Sheet, Statement of Operations, Accounts Receivable Statement, Cash Forecast, Variance Analysis, and Account Analysis.
2. Prepares journal entries and accruals to make the entities’ General Ledger reflect annual operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
3. During the year-end external audit, assists with the preparation of support schedules used by external auditors.
4. Prepares analysis of cash receipts and disbursements daily for use by Fiscal Services Management in making investment decisions.
5. Investigates variances from budget on assigned operating accounts. Performs detailed analysis of activity in various General Ledger accounts including bank accounts and accounts receivable aged trial balances.
6. Assists with reconciliation of physical inventories; from the inventory count and input, reconciliation to General Ledger, determines reasons for differences and prepares inventory statements.
7. Reviews vendor invoice coding and makes necessary accounting adjustments to ensure correct posting of expenses.
8. Prepares analysis for departmental requests on an as needed basis and provides follow up communication with entity’s personnel.
9. Assist with the preparation of supporting schedules utilized by the tax department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree in Accounting or Finance; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience: 0-2 years’ related work experience required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Working knowledge of Workday Financial Accounting Systems is a plus.
