Staff Accountant - Creative Financial Staffing

Job Title: Staff Accountant - (Hybrid)
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting team by performing a variety of tasks, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payments and collections.
• Month-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Provide support in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing insights to management.
• Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
• Ad Hoc Reporting: Prepare various ad hoc financial reports as required by management.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-9 years of experience in accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience in a similar role in Grand Rapids, MI, is a plus.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements specific to Grand Rapids, MI.

Working Conditions:

• This position typically operates in a professional office environment in Grand Rapids, MI.
• May require occasional overtime, especially during month-end or year-end closing periods.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
