Job Description: Staff Accountant
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with 3-5+ years of experience to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, hands-on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role involves supporting the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insights to enhance decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end closings.
- Maintain the general ledger by reconciling accounts and ensuring accurate recording of transactions.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support the preparation of management reports and variance analysis.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and timely.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding invoices.
- ERP Systems
- Utilize ERP systems for data entry, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Collaborate with IT or system administrators to troubleshoot ERP-related issues and optimize workflows.
- Compliance & Audits
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and analysis.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures to identify trends and opportunities.
- Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and propose solutions.
- Participate in the implementation of process improvements and system upgrades.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required).
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
