Candidates will NEED to be local to Baltimore or can easily relocate.
Candidates will NEED to be able to interview on-site for at least 1 of the rounds of interviews -- 2 to 3 in total (this can not be substituted for a virtual interview).
LHH is looking to hire a Sr. Systems Engineer who has a strong background in Windows Systems, Active Directory, IT Security, and some Cisco Networking. This will be a Direct Hire position with our client based in the Greater Baltimore Area. Our client is EAGER to hire and wants to extend an offer before the holidays. The role will require 100% onsite at their headquarters in Cockeysville.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field (this is a MUST)
- 8+ Years of experience with system networks
- Ability to administer/maintain/install Windows Active directory, Windows Servers and workstations, mobile devices, routers and firewalls, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare, Cisco Routers, TCP/IP routing protocols, firewalls, wireless networking, WANs, Citrix.
- Hardware knowledge of Cisco switches and router, HP servers and workstations
- 'The current team consists of 5 people, including an IT Director, Operations Manager, user support, and a Junior Developer, and Junior Engineer.
- Network Design and Architecture, Network Implementation, Security, Network Monitoring and Maintenance, Capacity Planning, Documentation, Vendor Management, and Compliance are key areas candidates will need to focus on.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills

- Strong problem solving, analytical, and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Network Design and Architecture
- Design and architect network solutions that meet the specific needs of the fuel and convenience retail company. This includes LAN, WAN, and wireless network design.
Network Implementation
- Deploy and configure network hardware and software, including Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment. Ensure that network infrastructure aligns with business requirements.
- Responsible for the configuration, operation and administration of network server hardware, operating systems and communications links. Including the installation of new software applications and hardware on the network.
Security
- Implement and maintain network security measures to protect data and systems from threats and vulnerabilities. This includes firewall configurations, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network access control.
Network Monitoring and Maintenance
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and resolve network outages or interruptions. Perform regular maintenance, software updates, and patches.
- Manages and maintains Active Directory including adding and maintaining users on the network; assigns application access while ensuring system security.
- Coordinates with consultants or vendor representatives when necessary.
- Verifies that the daily system back up occurs.??Restores documents, software, and data from the backup when necessary.
- Manages mobile devices for HOB.
- Administer Microsoft Azure cloud service
Capacity Planning
- Analyze network traffic and capacity to predict future requirements and make necessary adjustments or expansions to support business growth.
Documentation
- Maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures for troubleshooting and recovery.
- Assists Manager of Information Technology with the development of system standards, short/long term goals and project management.
Vendor Management
- Collaborate with network equipment vendors and service providers to procure and manage networking hardware and services. Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Team Collaboration
- Maintains professional relationships with Sr. Leaders, department managers, staff members, vendors and others
- Works closely with other IT staff, management, and vendors to ensure that the network infrastructure aligns with business objectives.
Travel
- Occasional field travel to company operated retail locations and dealer sites (outside of corporate)
