Sr. Structural Designer (Hybrid/Remote)

VAA's Structural team is responsible for designing, analyzing, and ensuring the integrity of structures across a variety of projects. We work on a diverse range of buildings, infrastructure, and industrial facilities, providing innovative solutions to meet both functional and safety requirements. The team focuses on delivering high-quality structural designs, collaborating with architects, partners, and other engineers to create efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions that adhere to regulatory standards and client specifications.
Your role:
- The Sr. Designer works with Engineers and Project Managers to prepare complete construction documents and assist during the construction support phase and acts as a primary technical contact on projects.
- Prepare proposals and required drafting fees.
- Understand and convey scope, schedules and end-product needs to internal project team.
- Layout plans, sections and details to specified VAA/client CAD standards working directly with engineers and project managers.
- Review project documents for coordination with all disciplines to avoid and resolve conflicts
- Participate in internal coordination meetings and client coordination meetings.
- Design and layout preliminary concepts and accurately communicate the content.
- Prepare and edit specifications, coordinate with drawings, and review shop drawings.
- Communicate with client and contractors regarding RFI's and field questions.
- Support project team in nurturing the client relationship.
- Provide direction and distribute work to technicians, designers and engineers.
- Mentor and train technical staff to produce high quality design services and deliverables.
- Perform a quality control review.
- Perform site visits as needed.
Your resume must include:
- Certificate in construction related design/drafting or higher and at least 8 years of directly related experience.
- OR at least 9 years of directly related experience in lieu of certificate.
Starting Hourly Range: $33.50 - $52.50. A variety of factors are considered when determining an offer including, but not limited to, market data, geographic location, experience, and specialized skills.
