This person will be responsible for a group of Software Engineers and/or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in the design, development, test automation, deployment, and maintenance of business application software. Software Engineering Managers work together with their peers to support high-performing software engineering teams, by building high-engagement, fostering skill-development, and demonstrating excellence in execution with the engineers across multiple squads. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of strong leadership while balancing multiple simultaneous workstreams, the ability to correctly interpret and communicate about data, an authentic character that inspires confidence in others, and will have a passion for leading technologies. The person in this role will be able to solve challenges related to software development across diverse technology stacks, such as Java/Spring and Springboot, Node.js, Vue.js, Angular, Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, Salesforce (Apex and Lightning), and Workday.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and mentor software engineers and SDETs as they efficiently and effectively design, build, test and deploy enterprise software
- Develop accountability for both individuals and teams, gathering and interpreting performance metrics and tracking deliverables
- Collaborate effectively with other leaders to develop strategies that improve software development processes and product quality
- Implement and establish software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software
- Manage, supervise, and determine appropriate resource allocation to ensure commitments are met
- Strategic planning to accomplish technical as well as business goals
- Lead by example in striving for a positive impact to customers and business partners
- Ensure team is current on technical capabilities and supporting tools
- Provide direct technical leadership to your assigned team, which includes establishing and tracking goals and objectives, team assignment, training, and facilitating the performance review process
- Provide and facilitate clear and concise communication with the team, peers, and managers including status reporting, timely raising critical issues, and giving constructive feedback
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership skills including coaching, development, team building, conflict resolution, collaboration, and leading through change
- Strong technical background in software engineering and architecture
- Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing and operations
- Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages - JavaScript is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of integration technologies and tools (RESTful web services)
- Familiarity with common software design patterns
- Experience leading out on quality processes and metrics
- Experience with Agile software development methodology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-driven with a sense of urgency
- Experience with full-stack application development is a plus
- Experience in leading mobile app development is a plus
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices is a plus
Education & Years of Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline required (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or SDET
- 4+ years of experience managing software engineers, including coaching, measuring job performance, and developing the talents of team members
- Able to work independently on assigned tasks and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision making
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, including good technical writing and interpersonal skills
- Excellent ability to mentor others
We believe in fair compensation for all of our people, which is why our pay structure takes into account the cost of labor across U.S. geographic markets. For this position, we offer a pay range of $114,300 -- $276,900 annually, with pay varying depending on work location and job-related factors such as knowledge, position level and experience. During the hiring process, your recruiter can provide more information about the specific salary range for the job location.
CHG Healthcare offers starting salaries for sales positions in the form of total target compensation (TTC = base + commission + bonus), which includes base pay, commission, and bonuses. Sales positions receive short-term incentives through commission plans and bonuses. On the other hand, non-sales positions have starting salaries that consist of a base salary and short-term incentives through various bonus plans, which are paid out monthly, quarterly, or annually.
