About the Job
OVERVIEW
As a Senior Quality Engineer in the External Supply Chain, you will provide critical support for our external partners to ensure product safety, quality, and compliance with General Mills requirements. The ESC Sr. Quality Engineer role offers an opportunity to independently represent General Mills externally, support multiple manufacturing locations, and work with cross-functional internal and external teams. As the point of contact between GMI and our external partners, you will build professional relationships and leverage your network across various GMI functions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the commercialization of new products by building effective relationships with external partners to identify and eliminate food safety and regulatory risk.
- Effectively onboard new quality assurance team at ESC locations to ensure compliance with GMI requirements through training, best practice sharing, and CI activities.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts with our external partners to reduce risk, eliminate waste, and improve product quality.
- Lead risk assessments and root cause analysis activities to protect GMI brands.
- Support the new product turnover process to ensure the capability to manufacture products as designed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree/ Master's Degree in engineering, food science, or other related fields with 5+ years of relevant experiences
- Willingness to travel around 50% of the time to external supply chain locations, Minneapolis, and other business locations
- Strong written and verbal communication for internal and external stakeholders
- Strong continuous improvement mindset with experience applying CI problem-solving tools in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to effectively influence external and internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and ensure effective partnership
- Excellent problem-solving skills and risked-based critical thinking
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Quality experience in a manufacturing environment
- Certified Quality Engineer certification is strongly preferred
- Sensory, food science, sanitation, food safety experiences
- System Engineering/Manufacturing Systems experience
