As the Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing/supporting execution, from start to finish, of a broad range of industrial manufacturing capital projects. You will develop various capital project documentation including scope documents, engineering calculations and designs, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, schedules, project justifications, technical reviews and training documents for the company's manufacturing facilities in North America. In addition, you will work within a cross-functional, global engineering team to achieve corporate, division, and departmental objectives in a collaborative environment. As the Senior Project Engineer, you will also provide direction and mentoring to lower-level engineers.
Ideally this Project Engineer would be located in Scottsboro, AL or Milan, OH but would consider someone based in our Littleton, CO Technical Center.
Your Day to Day:
Develop project scopes, specifications, schedules, and investment grade cost estimates for multi-discipline industrial manufacturing capital projects worldwide with value up to $10M.
Provide project management and oversight for all aspects and phases for multiple project assignments concurrently and driving projects to completion.
Perform and/or review detailed engineering in one or more disciplines and coordinate comments and resolve design issues with engineering firms and contractors.
Design and specify safe equipment and processes, ensure ergonomics are considered in all areas of design, and that potential safety and health hazards are identified and eliminated during project execution. Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed, driving a zero-incident project environment
Design and specify environmentally compliant equipment and processes, ensure that all permit requirements are considered and addressed in the design, and that potential environmental issues are identified and addressed during project execution.
Mentor lower-level engineers.
What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's degree in engineering
10 or more years of engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing industry
5 years of project management (managing projects up to $10M)
Ability to travel up to 50% (domestic and international)
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Project
Ability to work in a manufacturing facility (may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.)
Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical, chemical or materials engineering
Experience in fiberglass, glass, or roofing manufacturing industries
PMP Certification
SAP experience
Experience writing, reviewing, and negotiating technical specifications and contracts
Experience with PHA, HazOp design reviews
AutoCAD experience
Experience with continuous process improvement (Lean) in an industrial / manufacturing environment
Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, negotiating skills, and process troubleshooting skills
High level of drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate and seek out improvement opportunities
Ability to provide complex and innovative solutions to project and process engineering problems
Ability to identify good scope interfaces and be aware of risk management principles to mitigate risk to the company
