As an RF Module Design Lead, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop best-in-class RF front-end modules. These modules will include Power Amplifiers, Low-Noise Amplifiers, and BAW and SAW filters. Responsibilities will include designing RFICs, laminates, acoustic BAW and SAW filters, testing and characterizing prototypes in the lab, presenting design results, and participating in design reviews. This role plays a critical role in our high-performance RF teams.
Responsibilities
• Manage and take ownership of an RF front-end module and continuously improving its performance.
• Possess a clear understanding of customer design specifications and be able to translate full module requirements to subsystem design targets.
• Apply Microwave Engineering and RFIC design fundamentals to steer PA, LNA, filter, and laminate design tapeouts.
• Develop high-accuracy simulation benches using ADS, HFSS, or Cadence programs.
• Adapt the best MCM design and full module Co-simulation practices.
• Design integrated passive devices and RF filters.
• Lab tuning, data review and analysis.
• Work with Product Engineering team to review automated testing result reports and limits.
• Provide detailed technical reports.
• Designing high-isolation laminate layouts to meet high density component module and able to meet stringent requirements such as de-sense and harmonics.
• Participating and conducting design review meeting.
• Performing lab testing and tuning and using various RF test equipment.
• The circuit blocks involved in a typical product development may include:
Power amplifiers, integrated passive devices, SAW/BAW duplexers and high-Q RF filters, switches, low noise amplifiers, matching circuits, and high-directivity couplers.
• Software Tools Used are:
Ansoft HFSS, Agilent ADS and Momentum, Cadence Allegro and Virtuoso Layout.
• Hardware Tools Used are:
Network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, digital receivers, load-pull/tuners, RF probe stations
Required Experience and Skills
• BS degree with 12 years of experience in Microwave Engineering, RFIC Design, Electromagnetics, or related Electrical Engineering fields; or MS with 8 years of experience; or PhD with 5 years of experience.
• Practical experience with lab measurements and characterization equipment.
• Experiences of EM tools such as HFSS, or Momentum.
• Lab experiences of network analyzer, signal generator, spectrum analyzer and probe station.
• Knowledge of HBT, FET, CMOS devices.
• Knowledge of RF switch design, or power amplifier design, or PA classes, PAE, PA performance.
• Knowledge of communication standards, such as LTE-A, WiFi, and the associated standards.
• Understanding of requirements on such as sensitivity, intermodulation, de-sense, ACLR, EVM.
• Ability to independently identify solutions to technical challenges, remain open to team members’ suggestions, and relentlessly pursue the highest design quality with a strong sense of urgency.
• Exceptional communication skills in writing and speaking.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience in ADS, Virtuoso, and Allegro.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $139,100 - $278,300 per year per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
