Job Summary:
The Senior IT Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficient operation of the organization's computer systems and networks. This role involves planning, implementing, and maintaining IT infrastructure, providing technical support to end-users, and leading a team of systems administrators. The Senior Systems Administrator also plays a key role in identifying and implementing IT best practices and ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures.
System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and software applications.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Network Management:
- Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Troubleshoot network issues, optimize network performance, and ensure network security.
- Implement and maintain network access controls and policies.
Security Management:
- Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of systems administrators, providing guidance and training.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to achieve organizational goals.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of IT documentation and knowledge base.
Project Management:
- Plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations, standards, and security policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation and configurations.
On-Call Responsibilities:
- Participate in the on-call rotation, to provide service for critical outages.
- Follow the on-call policy for response time, and other items as outlined.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 10+ years of experience in system administration, with a focus on progressively more complex responsibilities.
- 10+ years of experience managing, configuring, and administrating LAN and WLAN controller, switches, and router technologies. Cisco experience is a plus.
- Management experience with antivirus, VPN, Entra ID, and MDM. Experience with CrowdStrike, Cisco AnyConnect, and Microsoft Intune are a plus.
- strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server), virtualization technologies, and cloud computing platforms.
- Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and tools.
- Project management skills.
- strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Network+ or Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate) are a plus.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to using ITIL-like processes and supporting applications in a disciplined way to ensure timely and accurate services, and reliable infrastructure environment information.
