Job Summary
In this position, you will work with an experienced cross-functional engineering team and have design and delivery ownership for electrical and mechanical content of our lighting solutions from concept through launch. You will utilize the "Great Harley-Davidson Engineering" design framework, implement M9 development methodology, and design for quality processes. Specific deliverables include:
Job Responsibilities
- Explore technical solutions and present design recommendations to achieve requirements
- Develop component requirements through collaboration, product benchmarking and input from internal stakeholders
- Develop designs through Tier I component partners and approve designs for production
- Verify system performance to H-D standards, approve supplier validation, and work with test and verification entities to ensure EE system meets or exceeds targets
- Resolve technical issues by applying problem solving techniques and facilitating cross-functional engineering & test support as needed
- Support vehicle-level system integration activities and regulatory compliance
- Support pre-production and launch build events and participate in product test & evaluations

- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with a strong mechanical background.
Experience Requirements
This position typically requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant design experience in related field. In addition, a successful candidate will have demonstrated the followin
- Experience designing and developing systems/components utilizing multiple manufacturing processes from concept to production with consideration to:
- Focus on delivering per the requests of cross-fucntional teams (such as product managers, styling, etc).
- Meeting legal and regulatory requirements of the destinations identified in the platform release plan.
- Developing test plans per automotive test standards and interpreting test results.
- A familiarity of various analysis techniques to solve both design challenges and development cycle failures.
- Success in directly using 3D CAD, engineering calculations, analysis/simulation and GD&T.
- Ability to manage parts and assemblies within the Windchill Part Life Cycle Management System.
- Success in solving challenging technical problems in a team environment.
- Experience in Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing at component and system levels.Ability to communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise manner to multiple levels of the organization.
- Experience addressing inefficiencies in development process and implementing solutions through continuous improvement techniques.
- Success in directly or indirectly leading a team or supplier to meet aggressive quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives.
- Ability to work with diverse global teams both internally and externally (suppliers).
Experience Desired:
- Background in lighting development for automotive applications including interpreting lighting performance data (color, luminance intensity, etc).
- Experience with the following work product tools: Helix ALM, JIRA, xFMEA
- Familiarity with root cause analysis process and techniques (i.e. fishbone/cause map/8D analysis, corrective action ideation, implementation verification, etc).
- Working knowledge of functional safety design concepts per the ISO26262 standard.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
