Asset-Based Lending Originator (Remote)
We are seeking an experienced Asset-Based Lending Originator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for originating, structuring, and closing asset-based lines of credit funded directly by our organization, as well as transactions involving other lenders where we act as the agent.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Establishing and meeting quarterly and annual funding targets and growth objectives.
- Maintaining a robust pipeline of new inquiries from channel partners such as banks, accounting firms, private equity firms, investment bankers, law firms, consultants, and online sources.
- Developing partnerships with lenders for syndication transactions and deal sharing.
- Promoting our brand and value proposition throughout the industry.
- Assisting the Division President with building and developing the sales staff.
- Leveraging strong relationship development and sales skills to originate and close asset-based lending transactions.
- Participating in industry events and conferences, both in-person and online, to source new opportunities and create brand awareness.
- Gathering financial packages and effectively qualifying prospects per division parameters for credit, structure, collateral, pricing, and strategic fit.
- Preparing pre-screen memos and presenting to underwriting staff prior to issuing proposals.
- Preparing and negotiating proposals with prospects, collaborating with the credit team to complete underwriting and due diligence processes.
- Managing overall transaction execution processes related to originated opportunities, including counterparty negotiations and related communications.
- Utilizing Salesforce for prospecting and internal deal tracking processes.
- Recognizing transaction opportunities for other divisions within our organization.
- Maintaining relationships with portfolio clients post-closing to address future loan needs.
- Effectively managing time commitments, maintaining the CRM database, and administrative functions related to prospect pipeline and tracking of weekly activity against KPIs.
- Understanding lending market and economic conditions that can impact client performance, marketing strategy, and credit structure.
- Collaborating with the marketing staff to create messaging for product awareness and sales origination strategies.
- Managing sales expenses to approved levels and maintaining proper sales activity ROI.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- An established network of origination sources and channels.
- Experience screening and funding ABL transactions ranging from $2MM to $25MM.
- A proven ability to effectively sell the value proposition of being a non-bank specialty finance company, with an emphasis on speed, certainty, and tailored deal structuring.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting, structuring, and documentary requirements related to senior secured revolving and term commercial lending products, including ABL and syndicated credits.
- Proficiency in both collateralized asset-based and cash flow underwriting practices, including credit/financial evaluation and cash flow projection analysis.
- The ability to negotiate deal proposals and structures while adhering to corporate objectives.
- Adeptness at working with executives to develop long-lasting partnering relationships.
- Strong client relations, time management, and presentation skills.
- Well-developed computer software skills (video conferencing, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce, LinkedIn, social media platforms, etc.).
- Strong writing, verbal, and listening skills, attention to detail, and a self-starting mindset.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- A team-player attitude with positivity, enthusiasm, an understanding of company success factors, and a commitment to keeping promises to others.
Qualifications:
- 20+ years of experience as a senior-level sales professional in the commercial lending industry, with both bank and non-bank ABL divisions.
- A proven track record of exceeding origination and profitability targets.
- 5+ years of sales manager experience leading teams of ABL or commercial lending sales staff, including recruitment and commission plan development.
- Divisional budget responsibility and credit authority.
- Experience in syndications, capital markets, investment banking, portfolio management, or credit roles spanning diverse commercial finance business units and banking divisions.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent experience (Master's or MBA preferred).
Working Hours:
Hours may vary and will require evening work depending on business needs.
Travel:
Travel on an as-needed basis to visit clients across the U.S. and attendance at conferences.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $215,000 per year, with an opportunity to earn commission.
