Maximus is looking to hire a Sr Proj Mgr - Proj/Prog to support the NextGen Program under the FSA Department of Education portolio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope including facilitating and preparing all planning activities and artifacts.
- Oversee and manage large multi-project programs including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities.
- Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain a master and individual resource plan and required documents for projects.
- Baseline all projects and capture actual metrics for historical metrics and Level of Effort (LoE) forecasting.
- Review deliverables prepared by team before providing to management and customers.
- Effectively apply the PMI methodology and enforce project standards on all projects.
- Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
- Minimize risk exposure on projects.
- Communicate relevant project information to management, stakeholders, and customers.
- Resolve and/or escalate issues within a reasonable amount of time taking in consideration impact on the project.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Track and maintain lessons learned and utilize lessons learned on subsequent projects.
- Ensure all projects are properly closed out.
- Supervise staff by providing direction, input, and performance feedback.
- Serve as escalation point to prioritizing workloads and resolving issues.
- Act as liaison for assigned vendor(s), including performance and SLA monitoring, and supporting system and business process changes.
- Participate in the drafting of vendor contracts, addendums, SOWs, RFPs/RFIs, change requests, and requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust 6C security clearance.
- Organizing, directing, and managing project management tasks, including planning, executing, and monitoring, in a complex environment across multiple locations.
- Receiving assignments in the form of objectives and determining how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Building project management expertise within the program team and developing or reinforcing best practices.
- Identifying risks and developing and/or reporting on risk mitigation plans to minimize exposure.
- Coordinating and compiling cross-functional inputs for internal and external deliverables, such as status reports and program plans, and performing editorial reviews for accuracy and conciseness.
- Maintaining and managing client interface up to senior levels of the client organization.
- Consulting with customer and program personnel to formulate and review project plans and deliverables, including standard operating procedures, while ensuring conformance with program and project schedules and contractual obligations.
- Establishing and maintaining progress reports and communicating updates on project statuses effectively and efficiently.
- Organizing and assigning responsibilities to multiple levels of the program through both a master program schedule as well as individual project schedules as needed and overseeing the successful completion of all assigned tasks.
- Work closely with portfolio and program senior leadership to identify upcoming needs.
- Develop a detailed plan for implementation and roll out.
- Follow up by evaluating product performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 7-10 years of relevant professional experience required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of project management experience.
- Previous PMO experience strongly preferred.
- Must possess exceptional organization, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Delivers multiple small and large projects with high values and high risk.
- Provides leadership for the project team to ensure that the project is delivered to specifications, on time and within budget.
- Develops innovative methodologies, techniques, and criteria for projects.
- Advanced knowledge of workflows and project mapping.
- Facilitates the tracking and resolution of issues impacting projects.
- Project Management Certificate (PMP) preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365, Project, and Visio.
- Previous experience with SharePoint and/or Smartsheet preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and changing environment.
Additional Requirements as per contract/client:
- Must be able to work in high paced environment
- Ability to manage several projects at same time, with little direction
- FSA Department of Education experience preferred
- Must reside in the U.S.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must not be delinquent or in default on any federal student loans.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
