Working closely with campus financial management, Accounting & Fiscal Services (AFS) ensures the integrity of UCI's financial reporting, enables effective and efficient campus financial processes and controls, and champions compliance with policies, laws, and regulations. Serving as one of 8 functional teams within AFS, the Central Payroll office partners with the UCPath Center to ensure payroll is processed promptly and accurately for UCI employees per UC policy and federal and state regulations and manages the UCI campus Time Reporting System (TRS). Serving as subject matter experts in UCPath Center payroll processes, UCPath system payroll, module, and TRS, the Central Payroll office provides tier one and tier two customer service inquiry resolution for Payroll and TRS matters as well as partnering with the UCPath Center on tier three inquiries requiring additional UCPath support.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced payroll professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures. Works on complex payroll problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Utilizes contacts within the payroll office and across the UCI and UCPath organization.
This position is required to work independently and manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines. Under the general supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Analyst 3 serves as a senior analyst supporting the Case Management and Payroll Production Support team. Responsible for triage and assignment of all incoming payroll EEC inquiries to team. Serves as subject matter expert (SME) for the UCPath Absence Management (AM) module: liaising between UCI Leave Administration, UCI Campus & Health Payroll, API Timekeeping, TRS Timekeeping and UCPath AM teams to manage all AM related EEC inquiries, overseeing the UCI catastrophic leave banks, representing UCI in UCPath AM Community of Interest (COI) workgroups, and leading all UCPath testing efforts related to AM roadmap items. This role will also maintain general understanding of Payroll System team (On-Cycle Support and TRS Admin) processes, to serve as backup when needed.

The expected pay range for this position is $69,500-$85,000.00 (Annually)
Required:
- Thorough knowledge of UCI payroll and AM processes, policies, and procedures; knowledge of organization-specific computer application programs: (UCPath, KFS, KSAMS, TRS, EEC Service Now)
- Problem solving, problem identification, reasoning skills and ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as needed
- Ability to read and understand CBAs, UC policy, and State/Federal legislation and apply relevant provisions to pay and accrual practices
- Experience and ability to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines
- Experience creating and delivering training material
- Familiarity with existing Staff and Academic policy and legislation governing AM
- Familiarity with existing UCI CBAs (RA, BX, CX, BR, HX, IX, EX, DX, PA, PX, LX, NX, RX, SX, TX, K9, M9).
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience Experience working in a payroll processing, accrual processing, or support role.
Preferred:
- Thorough knowledge of organizational processes, procedures, and possesses a strong understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills; verbal, written and active listening communication skills. Uses strong interpersonal and service orientation skills in interactions with customers and colleagues. Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Strong skill utilizing the entire Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to function as a member of a team
Special Conditions:
- Ability to work outside regular business hours for urgent processing
- Ability to work in a hybrid work environment (remote and on-site)
