Sportsbook Cashier/Writer, Part Time - Virgin Hotels

About the Job
This position will be responsible for sports wagering including without limitation ticket writing, efficient and timely receipt of cash from guests, exchange of cash for winning tickets from guests, and supporting the sports betting and wagering operation by providing excellent customer service, selling tickets and ensuring the proper payouts are processed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Ensure sports operations are conducted in compliance with Nevada Gaming Regulations, minimum internal control standards, and related system of internal controls
- Perform writing and payouts of sportsbook tickets
- Operate wagering terminal and perform machine maintenance, including but not limited to loading new tickets and keeping the sportsbook area free of all debris
- Support sportsbook guests by explaining wagering information and answering questions in a manner that reflects an understanding of the department and property in general
- Demonstrate a full understanding of all wagers offered on betting boards with the ability to explain to customers as needed
- Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting the Company's Service Standards and standard operating procedures at all times
- Assist supervisors in identifying guests with special needs to ensure the protection of the company assets and the best guest service possible
- Observe and report to the supervisor atypical, unusual, or suspicious wagering patterns or transactions
- Maintains a cash bank, documenting all transactions and balancing the bank at the end of each shift; properly accounts for all transactions and necessary paperwork
- Ensures that all ticket writing and cash information is accurately entered into the point-of-sale electronic and/or manual systems
- Properly processes any voided wagers
- Follows the Company's Standard Operating Procedures
- Effectively and consistently communicates the Company's sports betting rules and provides betting assistance to guests in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures.
- Consistently maintains visibility in guest areas and courteously responds to any guest questions and/or concerns
- Maintains awareness of popular lines and odds in the Sportsbook
- Ensures compliance with all local, county, state and federal regulations
- Safeguards the Company's confidential and privileged information that is obtained as a result of typical working procedures
- Evaluates self-performance and presents key findings to supervisors and above, and makes recommendations for operational improvement
- Builds rapport, commitment, and loyalty with customers and associates
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience working in a guest service role
- Basic math skills required
- Must have previous money-handling experience
- Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly, including high-value and high-volume transactions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in sports or online gaming is highly desired
- Must obtain and at all times maintain appropriate gaming registration and/or license when and where required in assigned jurisdiction. Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Minimum of 1 year of sportsbook or relevant experience in the casino/gaming industry is preferred
- Be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with team members and guests
- Understand all wagers offered on the betting board with the ability to explain to customers as needed
- Excellent customer service skills are essential
- Experience in sportsbook technology systems and betting terminals a plus
- Understanding a sportsbook operation is a plus.
- Interest in sports, casinos and gaming is desirable
- Knowledge of Mohegan's and Betfred's corporate and department policies and procedures
- Knowledge of wagering terminology
- Knowledge of wagering and related casino data platforms and applications
- Knowledge of the casino's computer management system
- Knowledge of Microsoft computer system and Microsoft Office suite software and applications
- Must be able to work in a casino environment with potential exposure to second-hand smoke and varying levels of light and sound
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
