Based at: San Diego County,
Summary: We are looking for coaches to provide coaching and support services during the Marine Corps Trials adaptive sport special event to prepare Marine athletes competing in the following twelve (12) sports:
- Archery
Sitting Volleyball
Cycling
Powerlifting
Field
Wheelchair Basketball
Shooting
Wheelchair Rugby
Swimming
Indoor Rowing
Track
Golf
Qualification:
Coaches shall have three (3) years of experience in a qualified US and National Governing Body (NGB) qualified athletic sport or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with adaptive athletes.
CERTFICATION LEVEL BY SPORT SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:
Archery: USA Archery Certification Level 2 in compound and recurve
Cycling: USA Cycling Certification Level 3 for coaches, for mechanic 3-4 years of cycle maintenance experience
Golf: USGTA Associate Member Certification or above
Indoor Rowing: USA Rowing Certificate Level 1
Powerlifting: USA Powerlifting Certification Level 1
Shooting: Coach Certification in Level 3 in primary focus, 2 in secondary focus (from US Archery)
Sitting Volleyball: USA Volleyball Certification Level 2
Swimming: At least 3 years coaching experience with 1 year working with adaptive athletes
Track & Field: USA Track and Field Certification Level 1 or equivalent certification from nationally recognized Track & Field organization
Wheelchair Basketball: US Basketball Certification Level 1
Wheelchair rugby: USA Rugby Certification Level 1
COACHES PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Coaches shall check and verify that all Government furnished equipment for training and competition is available for all athletes in their respective sports. Equipment shall be stored and kept at the training site on a Military Installation or approved storage facility. Equipment shall be moved from storage to the training site and back after the day’s training is completed.
Coaches shall provide guidance and instruction to USMC athletes throughout the training period. In addition, coaches shall provide a training plan with training schedules to athletes. Guidance and instruction may be remote or in-person.
Coaches shall attend the training camp. Throughout performance, the coaches will be instructing practice, clinics and competitions. Knowledge of game rules and regulations for Warrior Games Event is required in addition to previous coaching experience at WWR (or other service equivalent) sports camps, trials or games. Coaches shall be available for any kind of request for instruction from the athletes and staff from 0730 – 1730 daily
Coaches shall attend daily coaches’ meetings with the USMC WWR Adaptive Sports Team during the scheduled adaptive sports event
Coaches shall assist with maintenance of the Government’s equipment. Coaches are to notify the Government’s representative of equipment that needs replacement due to safety concerns. Prior to the start of each daily event, coaches shall make sure all equipment is available for all athletes in their respective sports. Following an event, coaches shall secure the Government’s equipment to include placing in locked storage containers provided by the Government at the venue site.
Coaches and coach mechanics for designated sports shall bring their own tools to maintain, calibrate or adjust the Government’s adaptive sports equipment and coaches shall provide their own whistles for team sporting events.
Daily training periods and coach requirements will be based on the event schedules. The needs for coaches in the specific sports may change based upon the needs of the athletes participating in each event.
