Speech Therapist - Oaklawn Hospital

Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Speech Language Pathologist provides speech, language, and dysphagia services, including evaluations, care planning, and treatment for patients.

Essential Functions:

• Utilizes an outward mindset to achieve personal and team goals.
• Conducts patient evaluations and administers treatments for speech and swallowing disorders.
• Designs and updates care plans and goals.
• Communicates with physicians through reports.
• Maintains documentation per standards and regulations.
• Engages in ongoing education and stays updated on industry trends.
• Participates in committees and staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology, Clinical Fellow status or Certificate of Clinical Competence, and eligibility for licensure in Michigan. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience with diverse age groups and ventilator-dependent patients preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and evaluative skills are essential. Knowledge of communicative disorders and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team is required.

Working Conditions: Exposure to infectious diseases and radiation in a controlled setting; may work in unpredictable home environments.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift/carry up to 50+ lbs.
