Job Description
Select’s Engineering Specialist is an introductory position onto the Engineering Team. This employee will get experience with many facets of the Engineering Team both in the field and office. This role provides a great opportunity to accelerate a young engineer’s development with involvement working directly with equipment, communicating with operations, managing time and priorities, and ultimately leading new projects for the company. The field work will be project and operations based, so time in the field will entail longer hours (~60 per week) and could include work on nights and weekends. The office period will be in an office environment with a standard work week (~40 hours). Select can offer a path to becoming a Professional Engineer (PE) and will pay for the FE and PE exams.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Provide direct support to the engineering manager regarding technological development, operations, and solutions used in the company.
- Learn and operate Select’s existing technology solutions.
- Help develop new technology for complex problems facing the company.
- Provide technical and operational support to field automation personnel.
- Work alongside engineers, technician, and operations.
- Lead testing and implementation in the field for new products and projects.
- Design systems for areas of expertise.
- Ensure quality of product is a focus for all engineering development and operations. Develop procedures, standards and guidelines that support the delivery of a quality product.
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe working environment.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Minimum of B.S. in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient and proactive verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Strong process development skills. Able to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision with strong initiative and finishing skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines in a changing environment.
- Hands on attitude able get things to a successful conclusion.
- Beneficial Experience/Skills:
- PLC programming
- SCADA operation or programming
- HMI design/programming
- Problem solving/troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.

Physical Demands and Exposures
- Requires a high degree of concentration in a busy area.
- Must be willing to travel to remote locations and spend considerable time at field locations as required.
- Position works inside a climate-controlled environment a majority of the time.
- Traditional Monday through Friday, 8 – 5 pm, unless operational tempo and requirements dictate otherwise.
- Ability to individually lift: Maximum 25 lbs.
