Specialist-Charge Entry - Baptist Memorial Health

Summary

Responsible for the daily completion of charge entry, working closely with the coders to accomplish this. Handles internal and external customer questions to completion. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Handles telephone communication with patients, insurance companies and other clinic personnel.
• Enters charges into Epic system per coded information from coding staff.
• Completes assigned goals

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Education

Preferred: Interest in or pursuing coding certification. Certification in medical billing or course work. Associate degree in Buisness, Finance, or related field.

Minimum: High School Dipolma or GED

Experience

Preferred: Three year customer service, collection service, billing, and third party collections in a physican or hospital billing office setting.

Minimum: Business related clerical job skills including keyboarding. One year customer service, collection service, billing, and third party collections in a physican or hospital billing office setting.

Special Skills

Preferred: Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

Minimum: Ability to type and/or key accurately, problem solving, written and oral communication skills, financial counseling skills. Knowledge of insurance billing and collections. Knowledge of insurance guidelines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective customer service skills.

Training

Preferred: MS office and Outlook, advanced phone system experience.

Minimum: PC skills and keyboarding
