Riverside Research is seeking to add a tech-savvy leader to our team of subject matter experts, technical project/program managers, and scientists supporting DIU’s Space Portfolio. The individual must have experience serving in technical, programmatic, and operational roles focused on the design, development, field and scale of space-based systems and applications for national security missions. Prior business and/or technical leadership at space sector commercial companies is highly desired. The position will collaborate with teams of commercial and military programmers, scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders, and is based in Mountain View, CA (alternate locations: Austin, TX; Boston, MA; Washington DC)
Responsibilities:
- Perform technical project management support for multiple prototype projects, from early curation, market research, and technology evaluation through DIU’s acquisition process, and post-award prototype, test, and delivery to customer environments
- Collaborate with and lead government partners, commercial teams, and other DIU support staff through the prototype development lifecycle
- Provide expertise in Digital Infrastructure, Persistent Sensing & Awareness, Servicing & Logistics Infrastructure, Responsive Space, Propulsion & Power and/or Assured PNT to evaluate the technical and programmatic feasibility of commercial solutions against defense requirements
- Develop program goals, milestones and plans for implementation collaboratively with DoD entities, customers, and program offices
- Perform independent reviews, detailed technical assessments, performance analysis of commercial solutions and their specific applications as part of commercial market research and evaluation of partner proposals during competitive acquisitions
- Review prototype proposals, technical and programmatic reports, acquisition documents, and related project documentation, keeping CRM and project databases up to date
- Participate in milestone reviews, technology demonstrations, simulations, flight tests, as well as reviews of post-test reports and performance data
- Build relationships with critical segments of commercial and non-traditional vendor hot-spots, to include tech entrepreneurs, startups, venture capitalists, and academics
- Prepare white papers, technical papers, briefing and meeting materials
- Respond to official requests for information and other tasks from government partners and stakeholders
- Participate in key intra- and inter-agency meetings

Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in technical or related field (Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science) and a minimum of 15 years of related experience. 12 years relevant experience with Master’s Degree or higher advanced degree in a technical/engineering field or remote sensing discipline (e.g. electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science) or business (e.g. MBA), or 8 yrs relevant experience with a PhD.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in project or program management supporting RDT&E programs and space-based national security missions
- Ability to deliver multi-discipline, multi-stakeholder projects that demonstrably improve operational capabilities (measured by increase in accuracy, decrease in cost, decrease in time) and enhance scientific collaboration, knowledge sharing, and research for the relevant community
- Prior operational experience with space planning, operations, acquisitions, policy, and military strategy for DoD
- Prior experience performing rapid-needs assessment, technology evaluation, and translation of technical requirements and broad problem-sets into fielded systems
- Prior military experience that allows the candidate to curate problems and define requirements with military end users is desired
- Ability to communicate to a broad range of audiences (CEOs, investors, commercial vendors, media, government/military officials, etc) to gain acceptance of vision, guidance and policy
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with senior-level government and commercial industry representatives
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and client-handling skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-function team under tight deadlines and high pressure environments
- Impeccable character
- TS clearance and ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI
Desired:
- Prior military experience that allows the candidate to curate problems and define requirements with military end users.
- Prior experience supporting and leading government and commercial vendor collaborative teams to rapidly iterate and deliver project tasks and milestones.
