MUST:
Experienced Sonographer
High School diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound
Minimum of 3 years in diagnostic obstetrical ultrasound is required
Registration by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Obstetrics required
Ideally, the candidate is certified in Fetal Echocardiography as well but this is not required.
BLS certification required
DUTIES:
High-resolution two-dimensional ultrasound scanning
Pulse wave and color Doppler examination of the entire fetal circulation beyond what is required in obstetric ultrasound (renal arteries, organ specific perfusion, coronary arteries, fetal vessels of fetal tumors, etc.)
Structural functional and specialized fetal echocardiography required for diagnosis of fetal cardiac anomalies, monitoring of fetal heart function or rhythm
First trimester echocardiography
Obtaining additional views that go beyond the OB standard ultrasound examination and the application of several imaging protocols (ISUOG, International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology) protocols of fetal neurosonography, echocardiography and monitoring of multiple pregnancies, using two-dimensional ultrasound or three-dimensional acquisition and reconstruction
Provide ultrasound guidance for invasive fetal procedures, as well as intraoperative monitoring of fetal wellbeing for complex fetal surgeries including fetoscopic spina bifida repair, fetoscopic tracheal occlusion or open fetal surgery
Synthesize the information gained during the ultrasound examination and present it in the logical fashion to fetal therapy attending physician in a manner that is relevant to the specific fetal conditions and clinical context (i.e. pretreatment, post treatment)
Generate ultrasound reports that capture essential findings even in the most complex conditions
