Cyber Security Engineer II
This position is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of complex network security systems to provide a stable, dependable, efficient, and secure network environment. The ideal candidate is expected to possess deep expertise in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS, the operating system powering Palo Alto Networks' next-generation firewalls. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of PAN-OS features and capabilities to design, implement, manage, and optimize firewall solutions that protect the organization's network infrastructure from advanced threats.
KEY AREAS OF EXPERIENCE NECESSARY FOR THE JOB:
- Experience specifically with general enterprise physical and logical firewall management, configuration, licensing, VPN, and security policy design.
- Has configured and managed high availability firewall implementations.
- Has hands-on engineer-level experience configuring, migrating, upgrading, and managing configurations with Palo Alto Panorama (3-5 years).
- Has hands-on experience replacing failed hardware with Palo Alto OS and tools.
- Experience with SEIM and or SYSLOG data collection and reporting.
- Experience managing SSL Certificates.
- Experience configuring Citrix Netscalar or F5 Load Balancers would be beneficial.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in the planning, design, acquisition, and implementation of the Company’s network security communications systems.
- Participate in the development and deployment of Company standards on all network security-related equipment.
- Assist in the evaluation of networking security technology to find solutions that meet business needs.
- Conduct project planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons.
- Make decisions on technical issues based on input from project team members and available resources.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Understanding of current versions of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS
- In-depth Knowledge of PAN-OS: Profound understanding of PAN-OS architecture, features, and security capabilities. Ability to leverage PAN-OS to its fullest potential in protecting the network environment.
- Security Policy Development: Skilled in crafting and implementing effective security policies and rules within PAN-OS to address various security concerns and compliance requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to PAN-OS configurations, network connectivity, and security policy enforcement.
- Certifications: Certification in Palo Alto Networks technologies, particularly those focusing on PAN-OS (e.g., PCNSA, PCNSE), is highly desirable.
- Collaboration and Communication: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to align security policies and practices. Strong communication skills for documenting configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning.
- Understanding of Microsoft server operating systems
- Understanding of Linux based operating systems.
- Understanding of core IT infrastructure and systems including but not limited to Active Directory, virtualization, networking, and firewall equipment.
- Understanding of networking concepts, (TCPIP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, VPN, PCAP, SDWAN)
- Ability to analyze system logs.
- Experience with the installation of highly available enterprise security equipment.
- Ability to perform routine audits of systems and software and perform maintenance upgrades.
- Maintain a level of proficiency necessary for competence in the position.
- Experience with the following technologies: Palo Alto Firewalls, GlobalProtect, Panorama, Prisma, Citrix Load Balancers, Splunk, Solarwinds, ServiceNOW, VeloCloud, Cisco IOS, Wireshark

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 3 to 5 or more years of increasing responsibility in terms of any applicable professional experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
