This position can either be fully remote for a colleague living in Oregon or Washington state or based in our Meridian, ID office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote where it makes sense to do so.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Claims Representative, you'll investigate moderate to complex commercial property and casualty claims in a prompt, equitable manner by analyzing coverage, liability and damages; evaluating reserves; and negotiating settlement or conclusion of claim. You'll have a proven ability to handle complex coverage, liability and damage issues. We'll trust you to proactively manage litigated claims while collaborating with defense counsel.
We'll count on you to:
- Examine and analyze policies, contracts and claim forms to determine coverage.
- Investigate loss in a prompt manner by telephone, correspondence or on-site investigation to determine liability. Negotiates settlement or conclusion of claim.
- Request necessary reports, e.g., police reports, fire reports, medical records, property damage inspections, etc.
- Utilize independent adjusting services to assist in the claim investigation as appropriate.
- Establish accurate claim reserves and re-evaluates exposures and reserves during the claim's life.
- Correctly enter claim data into claim and related systems for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with claims department staff on claim files in subrogation, arbitration and salvage recovery.
- Review and hire potential liability and medical experts needed to defend litigated and pre-suit claims.
- Manage litigation by assigning counsel within the approved WRBC or BNP panel where applicable, obtaining a litigation plan and budget, coordinating defense lawyer activities, continuously reviewing the potential for settlement with claimant, reviewing litigation expenses and authorizing payments, and determining direction of defense, e.g., defend to conclusion; compromise; or negotiate a fair and equitable settlement.
- Conduct full Medicare lien analysis, data integrity and negotiates Medicare liens when applicable.
- Attendsettlement conferences, depositions, mediations, pre-trial hearings and trials when advisable.
Qualifications
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years Casualty Claims adjuster experience
- Experience handling litigated claims and mediation
- Ability to accurately utilize multiple platforms and systems
- Ability to travel occasionally, as required for proper claim resolution
- Excellent problem solving skills coupled with learning mindset
- Ability to effectively prioritize and organize
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
What makes you stand out:
- 5+ years Commercial Casualty Claims adjuster experience
- Advanced insurance education desired, e.g., AIC, CPCU, SCLA
- Perform multiple duties in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate with an elevated level of professionalism with internal and external customers.
