We are seeking a talented Engineering Leader for Live Playback Orchestration team. Our platform supports streaming of thousands of Linear channels and thousands of live sports events such as Thursday Night Football, English Premier League, NBA, MLB, ATP tennis, French Open, UEFA Champions League (list goes on..) world-wide at large scale. As an SDM for Live Playback Orchestration team, you are in-charge of building large scale automation workflows to help setup, tear-down and life cycle management of live infrastructure to support thousands of live events and 24x7 linear channels globally for prime video customers. You will get to work on a lot of established as well as green field AWS technologies and design large scale backend systems from scratch. You will also be exposed to industry leading encoding technologies such as 4K/HDR/Atmos and gain a deep understanding of Prime Video's Live platform.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about simple and elegant software solutions, customer-centric products, and utilizing agile development processes. You will look at problems holistically, beyond the borders of your team, and thrive on solutions that require thinking at multiple levels, from strategic to business tactical to system goals to specific interfaces. You don't shrink from the spotlight, able to coordinate cross-org meetings, field difficult questions, and create positive collaborative outcomes. You are adept at reading code and writing documents for an executive audience. You will ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and secure.

Key job responsibilities
What you'll do:
- Define the long-term vision, strategy, and goals for your team
- Hire , manage and grow a team of software engineers, including their projects, performance, and career growth
- Clearly communicate project roadmaps with your team, management, and principal stakeholders
- Collaborate with peers, Product managers and Principal Engineers to deliver highly impactful projects.
- Drive continual architectural improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the platform while keeping an extremely high bar on customer trust, performance, and availability.
- Argue for the right outcomes with data, conviction, and diplomacy
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
