For over 38 years, Hospice of Wichita Falls has been the only non-profit community-based hospice in the area, providing services in 12 North Texas counties. Our wonderful nursing staff meets our patients and families where they are, private homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and our freestanding 12-bed inpatient center. Your life as a Social Worker - LMSW/LBSW
Your role is very important to our patients and organization. We meet our patients where they are. We will rely on you to ensure that we support our staff in making sure that the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families are understood. We work as a team so there will be a need to interact with other members of our team to provide support to the physician and other IDT members in recognizing and understanding the psychosocial factors that may exacerbate the symptoms related to terminal illness and collaborate on the planning of such care. You will be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours support. This schedule is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.
Job Qualifications
- Ability to understand the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families.
- Ability to relate cooperatively with staff and patients/families of varied backgrounds.
- Ability to be flexible and handle multiple demands.
- Ability to function independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conceptualize, interpret and integrate social work into the comprehensive hospice approach to patient/family care.
- Ability to be at work as scheduled and alert/awake.
- Demonstrate competency as defined.
- Ability to advance in computer knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- All services provided are consistent with accepted standards of practice.
