Shop Technicians - Spherion

Spherion Staffing is looking for Shop Technicians for a local truck & trailer shop. This position handles the complete repair and general maintenance of semi-trucks & trailers. The ideal candidates is detail oriented, has strong mechanical aptitude, and a strong work ethic. On the job training provided with career progression and advancement based for an entry level position in the truck and trailer maintenance field for the petroleum industry with on-the-job training and a willingness to learn. Perform inspections, repair, and installation of equipment on Refined Fuel and LP delivery trucks, trailers, and company owned equipment.

Pay $22-26/hour DOE

Responsibilities:
-Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and install equipment on customer trucks and trailers
-Assist in maintaining company owned equipment and maintain shop equipment
-Cut, thread and fit pipes
-Assist outside oil equipment mechanic; occasional overnight if necessary
-Complete work orders, accurately describing work performed and material used, recording serial numbers, etc.
-Operate material handling and company owned vehicles
-Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards on all styles of trailers as assigned
-Ensure that customer?s trailers are kept clean
-Some travel may be required to customer sites
-Miscellaneous duties as they occur within the business

Working hours: Various Shifts Available

Skills:
Tools: Basic set of hand tools, sockets/ratchet, hand wrenches. Large tools and job specific tools will be provided

On the Job Training:
-Refined Fuel and LP inspections
-Welding, and metal fabrication basics
-Plumbing of refined fuels and LP gas systems
-Electrical 12v and 24v systems
-Basic air system controls
-Manufacture certifications
-DOT inspection training
-Meter calibration certification
-Safety considerations on the job
-Career advancement

Education:
High School

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
- GED or High School Diploma
-Minimum of one year of previous mechanic experience is required
-Minimum of 1 year fleet/shop experience
-Diesel mechanic a plus
-Heavy lifting and bending required
-Demonstrate a safety mindset, follow established safety protocols
-Previous class 4-8 truck and trailer chassis repair experience a plus
-Must have experience working on air equipment
-Experience/Understanding of 12 Volt systems
-Welding and metal fabrication experience
-Good judgment and the ability to use hand power tools to operate other machinery safely required
-Clean driving record/valid driver's license
