Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Location: Irvine, CA 92618
Duration: 6 months contract
Shift timings: 1st Shift
Job Summary
Following well defined procedures and with normal supervision: Perform functions related to shipping and receiving verify and process incoming materials; move material to Receiving Inspection; resolve problems; prepare material for shipment via packaging, crating, palletizing, strapping, etc.; prepare bills-of-lading and shipping documents; enter computer transactions and maintain good housekeeping and a safe area. May be required to make pick-ups and deliveries using company vehicles. Must be available for overtime and occasional Saturdays.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
" Verify incoming material and supplies for processing into receiving system. Enter associated computer transactions.
" Deliver material and associated paperwork to receiving inspection area and supplies to their requesting departments.
" Prepare materials for shipment, including boxing, crating, palletizing, strapping, weighing and preparing bills of lading. Distribute completed shippers as required. Frequent interaction with export compliance personnel.
" Log receipts, returns and shipments in the appropriate spreadsheets.
" Load and unload vehicles, manually or with forklift.
" Follow company safety and PPE requirements. Maintain safe work areas and good housekeeping.
" Use company van for pick-ups and deliveries. (Requires valid driver s license).
" Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Non Essential Duties
" Requisition supplies and tools as required.
" Assist other departments when assigned.
" Complete facility organization and clean-up projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required)
Education And Experience
LEVEL 3:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 1 year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with computerized shipping and receiving systems in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with material handling equipment, digital weigh-counting scales, commercial freight bills, and UPS and FEDEX shipments preferred. Experience in palletizing and packaging preferred.
Language Skills
LEVEL 2:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate in English. Ability to write neatly and use telephone effectively.
Mathematical Skills
LEVEL 1:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Job mostly requires basic math skills. Occasional need to calculate percentages.
Reasoning Ability
LEVEL 2:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Interpersonal Skills

Transaction entry and use of inquiry screens. Use of on-line freight carrier systems. Use of email system. Basic use of Excel spreadsheets.
Tools/Equipment Used On The Job
Computer terminal, laser printer, calculator, telephone, copier, digital counting scale, counterbalance scale, forklift, company vehicles, pallet jack, ladders, banding and wrapping equipment and some hand and power tools.
Physical/Mental Demands
MEDIUM:
Position requires ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move/lift objects. Requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, carrying and parts counting. Requires someone who learns quickly and works well with normal direction. Valid driver s license required.
Work Environment
LEVEL 2:
The noise level in the area is usually moderate. The stockroom and shipping/receiving areas are not air-conditioned. Employees may be exposed to occasional dust and vehicle exhausts.
Must have the ability to be flexible and deal with changing conditions as required. Shop environment contains hazardous materials, dust, moving equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and metal chips from cutting, milling, drilling and turning operations. Employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
