Overview
Direct responsibility for service personnel and the day-to-day operation of field and shop operations including profit/loss, operational performance, cost of operation, equipment maintenance, operational safety and compliance with environmental laws and regulations. The ability to manage change and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with a complete understanding of corporate safety and compliance policies.
Basic Duties
- All essential functions, duties, and other responsibilities will be performed in support of the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Principles Statements.
- This position may involve knowledge of confidential information. Such information will be handled with paramount discretion.
- Maintain the profitability levels set by management.
- Assist in the creation of yearly forecast, budget and capital expenditure requests for Service departments.
- Create yearly objectives and goals for department, and other business plans.
- Assist in scheduling technician training.
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Maintain open communication with customers, employees and Caterpillar maximizing Daniels Group surveyed customer satisfaction
- Maintain appropriate level of technicians in order to maximize service department profitability.
- Identify high performing technicians and guide apprentice/helper platform.
- Mentoring Field Service staff’s daily activities.
- On-site Tech safety and performance audits.
- Provide technical advice and assist in failure analysis and estimate repairs.
- Assure safety of employees and compliance with all applicable laws.
- Travel as needed for business purposes.
- Take time necessary to proactively develop employees within the department; dealing with them in a manner that maintains a high level of morale and positive working culture.
- Oversee the day-to-day transactions, staffing and tooling to promote maximum asset utilization.
Oversee the timely and accurate invoice processing, employee time posting, parts orders and Service Letter completion. - Make and communicate critical decisions consistently with leadership, integrity, quality, urgency and teamwork.
- Work with internal customers in a supportive and productive way in support of the goals of the company and not just the individual department.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum ten years of Power Systems or Heavy Equipment engine and electrical experience and/or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Previous supervisory experience in a fast paced multi tasking environment is a must for this position.
- 3+ years of relevant supervisory experience in the EPG/Industrial/Marine/Heavy Equipment industries with direct responsibility for bargaining unit, salary and hourly personnel.
- Military encouraged to apply
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required with proficiency in Work Order Management Software, CRM Software, SIS, Power net and other business/Windows based software applications preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position works in an office environment and in the service shop. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. May on a continuous basis be on the shop floor supporting service operations. Noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate, and the noise level in the office environment is usually low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required.
